Industries worldwide are going through a difficult situation as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has forced them to reinvent themselves and adapt to this new scenario of social distancing. And it is not different for the audiovisual world, which has been quite affected for obvious reasons. However, markets and festivals have sought ways to carry it out, and the solution so far has been its online celebration, and the Marché du Film Festival in Cannes is no exception, since its 73rd edition, which is taking place from June 22 to 26, 2020, will be totally online.
This market, one of the most important in the world, will count with the participation of more than 8,500 participants, around 250 stalls and 60 pavilions. It is estimated that more than 1,200 online screenings will be organized and there will also be 2,300 feature films available for purchase.
The digital platform will have an online market that is intended to imitate the experience of the Cannes market, which will consist of live and real-time meetings, which will allow negotiations between buyers and sellers, in a more secure way and thus guarantee the celebration of new business. In addition, it will include virtual booths for sales agents, virtual pavilions for institutions around the world, video meetings to request and organize meetings through the available application, fully online screenings of films that have already been completed or are in post-production, in addition to programs and conferences.
